A teacher in our area who put a tiger on her web page was contacted by the man who had made the picture, giving her the choice of paying for his image or taking it down from her web page. You want to make sure you are choosing images from the public domain that are copyright free. Here are some options for you. Clicking on the button will take you to the site.
Image Quest is the part of Britannica that is all pictures. Each is free for students to use and includes the source for you to cite in order to give credit. ACS has a Britannica account for our students and teachers. Ask me if you need help with this one.
Photos for Class is a website that provides pictures for you to use in assignments. Each photo includes the source it came from.
Tineye is a site that lets you do a reverse image search. You can search to see where a picture originated, and how many times it's been used online. You can use this to check how your own pictures have been viewed and used. It's also a good place to check that you have the rights to use a picture you find online.
